If it’s what you really want to do, then ignore the nay-sayers. I admit, there’s a lot of theory in archaeology studies, but you need that in order to specialise later on. Dont know how it works out where you are, but here in Ireland we combine archaeology with another subject to degree level, i found history to be a brilliant offset. So if you can combine the two somewhere, go for it!!!
