This morning I replied “Tired” when someone asked me how I was. Then we got into this (friendly but fruitless) discussion over how tired we were. Duh!

That’s the way I always remember my dad responding when asked. The habit rubbed off and it’s fun to see how it surprises people and brings out a smile.
A friend of mine, Kirk Weisler, began using a sig line a while back that communicates well what I am trying to accomplish with my positive statement;
“Make it a great day. It’s your choice.”

You couldn’t have picked a better day to write this. Thank you so much! Will try to keep this one in mind. It really IS my choice ain’t it!
Bit of a theme for me at the moment at work. Big part of my job is about changing the culture and so many “negs” as I call them, who seem determined to drag themselve down the spiral so I often tell them that they have the choice to make it a good day.
My other line is “so what are YOU gonna do about it”. Those that play the victim, become the victim. Those that dig deep and muster up a smile survive.
Sounds bit dramatic and of course we all have bad days but i’ve seen all of the suggestions posted work. As Denstat says its about attitude.
My personal favourite is either to go totally over the top with a farge “AMAZING” or jsut to tell people that my job desprciption says I have to be happy. That always gets a smile.

Are you a professional motivator or something???
My job description says I have to be happy.
I think that should be made part of every job description :o)
... but I am in attitude. Malc’s view of the world … there is a lot of managers out there but not so many leaders, and a leader doesn’t need a structure chart to remind people of where they sit in life. Nothing worse than having a moody boss who everyone has to sidestep on a daily basis.
So my view is that if I’m hapy n smiling then maybe it will make a little more bearable for those around me.
I have 400 people in 400 stores who look to me to give then confidence, encouragement etc. Thats a big expectation cos they represent 60,000 people.
So in that respect maybe I am a professional motivator and tell ya wot, give me a group of people and I can get them working as a team. Dunno how just one of those things that sorta comes naturally to me. Not saying it is always easy, and we may have tears n tantrums along the way but we do always get there.
So thats my answer (for now !!!!!!!!)
“I am Excellent! And you?”
I like your dad’s comment… might take that up.
milkbox is happy! is even happier still :D
A friend of mine would always reply, “Delicious, as always.” At first he’d try to keep his face serious, but he’d eventually cave and dissolve into contagious laughter.
i love your name
(but how could you resist the variation “procrastatrix?)
love this goal too and wish i had a pre-fab answer to the puzzling “how are you” question
i mean, something better than none of your business, jerk

... for the compliments on my name :o)
but how could you resist the variation “procrastatrix?)
Didn’t even occur to me, that’s how :o) Maybe someone else will take that one.
something better than none of your business, jerk
LOL… I’ll keep that in mind for the really annoying ones… Thanks for the laugh!
.... how are you ????

And how are you?
You did it !
I’m fine too although it is far far too early in the morning to be up and working. I’m off to one of my stores later so stuff to do in advance. I know work pays the bills but it sure does get in the way of having fun.

I think we’ll need to practise a little more.
How are you?
I always respond with ‘spectacularly well, all things considered’.
People can tell what sort of day I’m having by my tone of voice – or whether there’s a sigh at the end.
Sometimes it comes out like I really am having a superb time – and sometimes it sounds like the ‘all things considered’ explains the tone of frustration I haven’t been able to mask.
But the real trick is that no matter how badly the day is going, I’m always doing better than I should be under the circumstances – so I always chalk that up as a win.
it’s a variation on the naughty swearword version from one of my buddies in the marines. I totally bogarted it and say it with a giant grin on my face most days.
I LOVE the other options listed here!
I’m on a “rah rah yayhoo for 43t” tangent right now anyway.
with this one ??

Not sure, I’ve been focusing on a few other goals… will have to evaluate my progress on this one.
