Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Let It Snow

So yesterday we had the winter storm come through with about two feet of snow over a couple days. When I left work last night I started my car and brushed the snow off it. There was frost inside my car windows from my breath, and it was taking a while for the car to warm up enough to melt it. I decided to brush off the two cars on each side of me as a random act of kindness. After I started though, I wound up doing more and more until I’d done all six cars in the same row as mine. I actually felt guilty about not going to do the four cars in the next row. Still I’m sure that the six drivers that I did clean their car were pleasantly surprised when they left work and didn’t have to do it. Not a huge difference for sure, but still something worth doing.

Scraping Ice

Four out of the six vehicles I cleaned off yesterday had icy build-up that I scraped off too.

I can empathize with you about the trunk access. I’ve had to chip away at ice to get in my trunk at times too.

So nice!

What a great thing to do! I’m sure those people were giddy when they got to their cars and saw what you had done for them.

mooniebutt is a Mommy!

Awesome

I think it’s huge! No one likes brushing the snow off their car especially when it’s freezing… six people got home that much sooner because of you. Bravo!!

Very nice thing to do!

Friday, it took me about 5 to 10 minutes I think to scrape my windows. I can’t imagine what you have to do being so far up north. You must have gotten some good exercise doing that. :)

Good Exercise

Actually when I was done with that I went and shovelled snow not only for myself but also sections for the business below me. Now that was good exercise.
