30 definetly snuck up on me, I’m turning 33 in June. It seems the older you get time goes by alot faster. I remember being a kid and wanting to be an adult so bad and my parents telling me to enjoy being a kid…I should have listened. But, you know, it’s just one of those things you have to realize for yourself. I do enjoy everything that comes with getting older, the things you learn about life and yourself. Your views change, you get to that point where you realize you actually don’t know everything and question what you were raised to believe in. You start to find your own truth. You start to see yourself as you really are, not how other see you. You see the real beauty within.
Comments:
I agree.
When I was in my early 20’s I thought the world revolved around me and how dare anyone give me advice because I already knew everything! I was a brat. The 20’s do hide certain things about life, the bigger picture. I think it’s because we’re so self invovled in that period of life. We don’t see the bigger picture. It’s when real problems and life tragedies occur we become more humble. The personal growth begins. The greatest lesson I’ve learned is that life does’nt unfold according to the vision you had for yourself in your mind. Life throws the most unexpected situations at you. Horrible things and beautiful things. The personal growth comes from how we deal with the obtacles. It really is great (and sometimes hard) to watch other people’s stories unfold. I enjoy getting older, I love the wisdom that it brings. It’s amazing how much we change and grow.
I love your entry,
very poetic. Hmmm, what brought out the changes in me? Five years ago My Dad was diagnosed will Squamal Cell Carcinoma. A very aggresive cancer that they told him was terminal. He was expected to live only 6 months to 2 years at the most. After Cemo and Radiation as well as surgery it went away…so they thought. A year later it came back. Again he beat the Cancer. It was a long, hard road and he then suffered from major depression, which is a whole other story. But, when I found out my Dad had Cancer it opened my eyes to the bigger picture of life. It was like a veil had been lifted and I could see what was truly important in life.
