make a difference in this world (read all 5 entries…)

my thinking.

“I have never been especially impressed by the heroics of people who are convinced they are about to change the world. I am more awed by those who struggle to make one small difference after another.”

~Ellen Goodman

Though I am not the hugest Ellen Goodman fan, this is a great quote – thanks for sharing.

I'm not either

but, yes, this quote is a good one. Type A I am not. And this type of philosophy sits squarely in my mindset.

So am I, SoCal

I appreciate your comments. You are a bright spot in my day here as well.

And btw, I sent 3 post cards today. So expect them in about a week. I think you’ll like them.

Excellent!

One is of covered bridges, one is of a gallery and falls, and the other is of Camel’s Hump Mt. If you ever look at a VT quarter you can see a mountain on the left. This is Camel’s Hump. It’s my second fav hike. And here is an image of this mountain I took from an airport.

christinet has been in a cave of despair

my favorite quote

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Marianne Williamson

I especially like

the last sentence – “As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” THAT speaks volumes! Thank you.

this is part of Max Ehrmann’s Desiderata:

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

THAT

I really enjoyed, too. Thanks for sharing that. It’s so inspirational!
