I did this and love WordPress so much that a major part of my business is now helping other people make the switch.

I’m trying to install wordpress.
Any tips on how to go about it? I use a web hosting service.

Installing WordPress
Installing WordPress is not too hard if:
-you are comfortable creating a MySQL database and user
-you can edit a text file to put the database info into it
-you are comfortable with FTP
If you can do those things, you’re pretty much good to go. Just create your database (and user), edit the WordPress config file (configuration.php I think) and upload the WordPress files via FTP (you can download the files from the main WordPress site [ http://www.wordpress.org/download/ ]). Then point your browser at the location you uploaded the files. That’s really it.
However, if you don’t feel comfortable doing those tasks, you might want to get a geeky friend to help you (or I can, but I’ll charge you something :) ).
