Bicycle Across The U.S. (read all 2 entries…)
The 1970's, "A Groovy Ride" 2 years ago

When I was in grade school I often rode to a bike shop where “the fast guys” hung out and gathered for afternoon rides in the summer. I had a sweet little Italian custom frame with Zeus components and 26” sew-ups. The older guys at the shop were my heroes and they all had done at least one trans-US ride. A group of these cycle racing hippies did the ride every summer.

In the 70’s it was a cool thing to do. Today it seems that only “eccentrics” ride across the USA on bicycles.

I want to pedal across the country, coast to coast, just like my heroes did!

My Ride

I want to ride from west to east, but it may take some time before I actually begin this adventure. Everything depends on time, the trip will take about 90 days to complete. 90 days allows enough time to really enjoy the ride.

In the spring, summer and fall I can usually get about 250 to 350 miles / week and still work.

Congrats on the new Litespeed, that s a very nice bike, titanium really soaks up the road vibrations. You will love the Litespeed.

Thanks for the invite and I keep you posted on my trip. My next “big tour” will be in the Yucatan. My wife, daughter and I will spend two weeks riding to several Mayan ruins.

Changing MyLife has gotten 2 cheers on this entry.
