Day Six

Okay, so I’ve been writing down “Day 1” “Day 2”, etc, in my planner. Today was day 6. And for the most part my meditations have gone well, but today, I just couldn’t get my head into it. I mean I would focus on my breath and then suddenly I was off on tangents. Back to the breath, then something else, then this then that, I just couldn’t focus this morning.

I think I’m gonna give it another go before I go to bed tonight, but yeesh, I just could not concentrate and even the dogs conspired against me and crawled into my lap while I was meditating (if I shut the door and shut them out they scratch at the door and whine).

Maybe it was the radio. I’m in a very new neighborhood (read as the houses on either side are still being built/finished) and the workers next door were blasting their car radio, I’m assuming so that they could hear it upstairs as they worked, and woke me up. My first act of the morning was to throw on a sweater and go ask them to turn it down. Then, I couldn’t go back to sleep or meditate; well I tried to and I did sit still for fifteen minutes, but, like I said, I had no focus at all, and I was aiming for 20 mins. One of the things I kept coming back to was the “conversation” with the construction worker. Spanish and english echoing in my mind. Fun. For some reason I have more trouble controlling my thoughts in Spanish than in English, which is ridiculous because Spanish isn’t even my primary or first language.
