paint furniture (read all 2 entries…)
Going to start soon! 2 years ago

We’re moving into a new house in April, and there is a large room in the basement that I’m planning to claim at least half of as my art studio. So once we’re settled in, I’m going to start painting furniture again and trying to sell it. Would be nice to have a little extra income from that, since it’s something I can have fun with anyway!

hard way to make money

Can’t tell you how many commissions I’ve done like this. People really mostly want kiddie table and chairs and rockers and baby stuff.
If you really love doing this go for it. I got to the point where I just wouldn’t do it anymore. I could never get paid for the amount of time it took to do things well.
If you can figure out a way to make it lucrative then let me know!

Actually...

I may have an in-road to a boutique. My boyfriend’s friend’s wife is opening a home-decor boutique in an eclectic shopping area, and I’m hoping that if I do some smaller pieces, she’ll consider putting them in the store as a test-run. I’m going to wait and see what kind of merchandise she’s planning to stock before I get my hopes too high, but it’s a possibility! I certainly wouldn’t expect to make a living at it, but a few extra bucks here and there would be nice.
