Amiguita, en realidad tienes suerte que tus papás no te enseñaran español … el español de Puerto Rico es pesimo. hahaha (broma, no quiero ofender a tus papás).
Escucha, así es en lo EEUU. Mi papás (los dos) eran portugues-hablantes naturales. Quiero decir que su primera lengua fue el portugues. Pero no me enseñaron. :(

By the way ...
The way your goal is written has a glaring grammatical error: split infinitive.
You’ve injected the adverb “fluently” in the middle of the infinitive “to speak”, which is a huge no-no.
It should be “Learn to speak Spanish fluently.”
Just wanted to point that out to you.
