After leaving NYC, I tried to figure out which theaters and which shows I had been to. Turns out, I’ve been to quite a few . I even found more than one theater that had since been demolished. I came to realize that much of what I saw wasn’t all that great, but there were some really good shows in there. I’m not quite sure if it would have been possible to skip the poor shows without missing some of the great ones, but I think I over did the ‘take advantage of living in NYC and being able to go see lots of shows’. I remember going to see a show at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and trying to remember what other show(s) I had seen there. It turned out I had seen five other shows at the theater and couldn’t remember one of them without seeing a list of what had previously played at the theater. Sometimes I would go see a show because it was supposed to be short run sell out, etc.. Next thing you know I’m paying $220 to see Julia Roberts in “Three Days of Rain”.
There are so many other great events in NYC besides just the Broadway shows.
