I feel your pain KatyLove. I agree with the other posters, to let God work on your problems.
Cursing was one of my problems, from time to time I still let a swear word fall from my lips. I found that I couldn’t and still can’t completely control it myself.
Cursing is like instant therapy, it relieves intense anger, and frustration. It’s not very effective, and it makes the person doing the swearing feel so much worse. Especially if this person is a Christian.
I found that by sorting out the sources of anger, and learning to more fully express myself with clean language helped my swearing problem. This has been accomplished through much prayer to God about the problems I was facing with different situations and people.
Swearing is a choice, and no it’s not Christ-like. It takes a certain amount of self-control to refrain from it. But it also takes faith in God to give us the strength for this.
Out of the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks. For me it was an angry, bitter, and intimidated heart. He is, as I am willing to follow Him, leading me away from that.
Don’t worry KatyLove, He will see you through. Just keep going to Him in prayer, Bible reading, walking in trust and obedience. God Bless you richly.
Love in Christ
