Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Grow in Christ (read all 3 entries…)
It seems like...

No matter how hard I try I never get any closer.
I think that I am my own worst enemy.
I just really need prayers right now.

I don’t really know what exactly my problem is.

I find myself doing things I know I shouldn’t do.
Even as I am doing them I tell myself I know that it is wrong.

Cursing is my main fault.

Pray.
A lot.

Corrie ten Boom

there was a great story the pastor told in church last Sunday – I’d read it before, but had forgotten it. In Corrie ten Boom’s book The Hiding Place (great book) she talks about trying to do something in her own strength, even praying for God to help her, realizing that she could not and praying that He would do it – and it was a moment of transformation wholly through God’s working.

Paul talks in Romans about not doing what he wants to do and doing what he does not want to do – remember to rest in God’s mercy and pray that He would do the work He has planned in you. (Psalm 138)

Have you ever read Brennan Manning’s book The Ragamuffin Gospel? I found it really encouraging in this kind of struggle.

The Fathers heart

Katie you don’t need to worry because God loves you so much, like the person above me, I just say hand it over to him! The bible tells us his yoke is easy and his burden is light :) When you find yourself struggling with these things don’t try and sort it out, don’t promise yourself you will stop by a certain date because thats a phrophecy and you’ll be tested on it. Instead just pray and say God I don’t want to do this thing anymore, but right now I am struggling with it, and I know only you can overcome it for me. So ask him to tackle it for you, for in your weakness he is strong. Its not through rules that we become like God but by having a relationship and loving him :) He has big plans for your life katy and he declares freedom :)
God bless!

Keep at it!

DELIGHT yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your hearr… Keep at it.. Find out what does it mean “TO DELIGHT YOURSELF IN TEHE LORD”” Read Psalms 37

syd you are beautiful.

My dear, just your realisation of these faults is a huge step. I was reminded today to humble myself before the LORD. Remember that sanctification is a LIFELONG process and don’t beat yourself up over it when you fail. I promise it’s okay. I struggle with pride and not accepting God’s love and if you, little by little, continue communicating with Him and asking Him to help you, He will – because we can do nothing on our own! Praying for you, love, and keep the faith. Always read Psalm 139, Romans 8, James 1.

Meditate on His Promises

Close your eyes and visualise Jesus speaking all the promises over you. Do this everyday and you will see the difference.

Grow in Christ

I feel your pain KatyLove. I agree with the other posters, to let God work on your problems.

Cursing was one of my problems, from time to time I still let a swear word fall from my lips. I found that I couldn’t and still can’t completely control it myself.

Cursing is like instant therapy, it relieves intense anger, and frustration. It’s not very effective, and it makes the person doing the swearing feel so much worse. Especially if this person is a Christian.

I found that by sorting out the sources of anger, and learning to more fully express myself with clean language helped my swearing problem. This has been accomplished through much prayer to God about the problems I was facing with different situations and people.

Swearing is a choice, and no it’s not Christ-like. It takes a certain amount of self-control to refrain from it. But it also takes faith in God to give us the strength for this.

Out of the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks. For me it was an angry, bitter, and intimidated heart. He is, as I am willing to follow Him, leading me away from that.

Don’t worry KatyLove, He will see you through. Just keep going to Him in prayer, Bible reading, walking in trust and obedience. God Bless you richly.

Believe in yourself

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the bible is fiction. you must live your life now and don’t regret everything or anything. live socially and be mindful. swearing is not the end of the wrold , just relax , look at the world in a better light, THINK for yourself, use your head. stop thingking about christ. Think for you. And why its bad to swear because its not a good way to communicate its just a plain old bad habit, like biting your nails.. Live your life free!! It was written thousands of years ago to control people that couldnt think for themselves. Live now, becuase we die eventually. Yes in the near future, (not in our lifetime) we will be able to live longer just by switching organs . KatyLove be good to yourself, and stop this bible shit, and be yourself and not what THAT BOOK says. Life is an ever evolving cycle. its NOT WRITTEN. Good luck to you .. Your friend – Marlon
