Get a really good, board-certified podiatric surgeon. Be prepared; you will be spending most of your time for the first 10 days keeping your foot elevated and iced, taking pain medication, and hobbling to the bathroom on crutches. Depending on the actual surgical procedure, you may or may not have to baby that foot by not walking on it for several weeks (I got a procedure that’s allowing me to walk on it already, and it’s only been 10 days!) so be sure to talk to more than one surgeon to see what the options are.
