exercise regularly (read all 59 entries…)

Untitled  — 1 year ago

i went to the gym tonite and ran on the eliptical for 35 minutes and i was going to go my usual hour but i had sharp pains around my liver area. it has happened before but i hate that when it happens because it cuts into my workout time.

so far i have lost 20something pounds but i have been stuck at the 170 pounds mark for the last week and i really want to break into the 160’s because i haven’t seen those numbers in 5 years. i am going bring my dieting up a notch because i have been looking after my baby boy while my wife goes to school and he is up all night and wakes up a bit during the days, so i haven’t really had a good eating schedule. i haven’t been eating fast-food or anything really rotten for me but i am eating alittle more frequently than i should while dieting.

so tomorrow i am getting back to what has worked for me in the beginning of my weighloss conquest. dieting and working out hardcore.

Nice work

The fact that you have posted on exercise 59 times shows you are much more dedicated than the vast majority of people.

About 2 years ago I lost around 50 pounds, but got stuck around 175 and I really wanted to be around 165. After a few months of being stuck in a rut, I made a few changes to my routine and got the final 10 pounds off.

You may already be doing these things, but I hope they help –
1. Do your cardio at a low intensity. I was running all of my miles at about 70% effort because that burns a ton of calories. However after I lowered by intensity to about 55 – 60% intensity I started seeing gains (in this case drop in body fat).
2. Supersets – Intead of doing a set on the bench and then resting 2 minutes and doing another – I changed my routine to only do supersets: Bench, pushups, pullups back to back with no rest between and 1 minute between sets. I did something similar with all of my exercises. This also got me out of the gym about 15 minutes sooner.
3. Eat more protein and fewer carbs. I am not an advocate of “low carb diets,” but generally, I don’t think people eat enough protein. I analyzed my diet and found that I was eating 75 – 80% of my calories from carbs (most whole wheat). I really started pushing the chicken, fish, eggs, cottage chesse, and lean red meat. This really helped lower my body fat, I finally made it down to 165 where I have been for several months.

Hope this helps.

As I was going through this I also built a fitness website that I use to keep track of my goals, progress, ect. It is just starting up, but please feel free to use it www.fitnovo.com – it is a membership site, but here is a code to use it for free – after entering your personal stats just enter “stewart800” in the box marked “communications code” and this will null the credit card fields.

Good luck
