I have reached my 2,000 words this month, no problem (see my previous posts). The more I wrote every day, the easier it became. I now think it will be hard for me NOT to write most days, although I still think I’ll need some discipline as I’m very easily distracted.
So my goal this March has been a resounding success. I wrote 100 words most days, I tried not to word count and be comfortable with ball-park estimating. And the fact is I have written more in one month than I have done for years. 2,000 words in total. Considering how busy I’ve been, this is a mega achievement.
I have enjoyed the liberation of allowing myself just to write down the bones of the story. I have ended up with a nearly completed draft of a story that needs a lot of revision, but I’d rather have a finished average story than a brillian unfinished one. It has been scary allowing myself to write without editing as I go along. My internal editor is safely under lock and key until I get to the editing phase.
So this month has been a revelation. I am pleased with my story so far… so this goal is finished.
