Cleaning out the kitchen cupboards 2 years ago

I’m eating my way down in the kitchen cupboards. Not only am I saving money from not buying groceries but I won’t have so much to pack when I move. I’m remembering to do this on this move because last time I moved some open containers like syrup and honey-you should have seen me when I opened that ruined box! I hope to create a new household for our new lives together that includes a lot less stuff in the cupboards. It isn’t always good to hoard edibles-things like spices deteriorate. Space is also a valuable resource, and I need to remember that. It won’t be easy for me though because I have always felt like I lived an abundant life when I had more food on hand.

That's a good reminder to me

You know, I keep finding myself having to go through my cupboards and my pantry. It would be so much simpler if I simply wouldn’t start hoarding things. I understand the feeling of more abundance if the things are there, too. That seems to be part of my problem.

Well, I’m going to use this as inspiration and clean out mine as well – and HOPEFULLY stop the process of refilling! On the bright side, I did just clean out my spices and I don’t intend to add more to those anytime soon. I guess that’s progress!

hobknobhill is cleaning like crazy!!!

I am trying to do this too

although I also feel more comfortable with more in the cupboards. I have found though that things go stale (or get bugs) if you don’t use them fast enough. I think my problem is mostly that I don’t rotate our meals enough. I make the same old thing a lot and don’t use the “special” stuff because I’m saving it for a special occasion. My family is worth it though and I’m making more of that stuff for them to enjoy.

just finished this

I finished up cleaning and re-organizing my cupboards just about a week ago. My kitchen is SO MUCH more pleasurable to be in/work in.

I’m also trying to shake up my meal plans so they have a bit more variety. I tend to cook the same 10-12 things over and over. And although some are family favorites and will still appear frequently on our family menus (i.e. homemade pizza), I’ve found that planning ahead is the only way I achieve success in including new recipes. My new system is to plan my menu for the week on Mondays, an hour before I go grocery shopping. (Monday is my day off from work). Only been at it about 2 weeks, but so far so good:)
