Have corrective eye surgery
On Being "4-Eyes"

I’ve worn glasses since the 3rd grade, at first just for reading, and then more and more until I needed them for everything. When I was 20, I FINALLY got contacts, and that was great. But, by age 40, I couldn’t read without reading glasses over the contacts (I can’t afford the type of contacts that would allow me to go without the reading glasses). So, I’m back being stuck with glasses on my face, which I HATE.

Anyone remember the commercials for the contacts you could wear at night, so you could “see above the bedcovers” (or something like that) first thing in the morning??? I WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN!

My opthalmologist wasn’t too keen on most surgeons/center that do this surgery, and says you can get some REALLY horrendous and awful results, so that’s scared me off. In addition, I don’t have insurance that would cover it, and I couldn’t possibly afford this on my own.

Check out this Lasik goal

Quite a few people have adopted this goal: get corrective eye surgery or lasik. You may find that more useful. Also, I found some really great information today regarding this goal. Here’s the killer post.

Thanks for the recommendation about the wording for this goal. Obviously, there are some “tricks” as to how to word goals to get the most exposure.

Re: the killer post, some good questions there! Financially, though, this goal is VERY, VERY long-term. I have NO “disposable” income; in fact, I have almost NO income at all, and limited insurance.

But, it’s a goal, even if only in my dreams!

Well, I’ve looked up the net many times on Laser eye surgery but I’ve been permanently scared off. I’ve had glasses since the 5th grade. I am about -3 in one eye, and -4 in the other. I’m trying out vision therapy/training right now. These days I try not to wear my glasses when I don’t need to. I can still live without them…even at such a high degree.
