I felt just the same, and I got a bit fed up at pretending to understand what everyone else was talking about, hoping they wouldn’t ask me for my opinion in case it revealed my ignorance too acutely…I buy the paper every morning now, and instead of listening to music stations I tune in to current affair radio programmes which I have found really helpful for keeping up with the news. I actually enjoy what I’m reading or listening to now, and find myself thinking and questioning things instead of thinking they just don’t concern me.
