ok, i seem to be getting nowhere with this goal. hmmm… how do i get started? how will i measure my progress? how will i be able to say that i’m finally “re-acquainted” with java?

after doing some thinking, my answer to question number 1 is i start tomorrow lunch break and continue reviewing/studying during subsequent lunch breaks.

for question number 2, i will measure my progress by doing an exercise after every chapter or groups of chapters.

for question number 3, i will be able to say i have re-acquainted myself with java if i will be able to design and implement a solution to the baboon problem, a problem that i was not able to solve properly in college. solving the baboon problem requires of the programmer adequate knowledge in threads and inter-process communnication. also, it requires minimal knowledge in graphics if the programmer wishes to include a graphical representation of the baboons in his program.

i will be posting the baboon problem a few days before i start trying to solve this problem, which might take a while, depending on my progress.

hopefully, i will be able to achieve this goal in four month’s time or less.
