read the books I own but haven't read yet (read all 12 entries…)

However, it seems like the best place to share this video of Erin McKean, the editor-in-chief of U.S. Dictionaries for Oxford University Press, for all my word obsessed friends here! It’s about 18 minutes long.

While you’re there, and if you have another 40 minutes, I highly recommend watching Thomas Barnett too. It’s more serious than McKean’s talk, but I found it quite fascinating.

Along with TED, PopTech is a conference I’d love to go to, but given the massive price tags and the fact they only let you in if they want to, it may be some time before I manage it!

way off topic...

but what is an American Style fridge? Being an American, I see all types of refrigerators when I go to my own home, friends’ homes, etc. What qualifies a fridge as being American style?

Being...

...massive is a good start, with an ice dispenser built in to the front. My current fridge has about 1.5 cubic feet of storage, so you can see why I might be interested in having a large fridge. :-)

Oh, yes...

1.5 cubic feet…no, no, no…that’s all wrong. An ice-dispenser…I agree..now that’s the good life. I don’t have one. I think a real american fridge has to have two doors which open in the middle, no?

Forget that freezer on top of the fridge business. It’s got to be vertical.

One drawer for veggies, one for cheeses tons of door compartments for condiments, candy, etc.

A meat drawer. And shelves to hold milk, leftovers, what have you.

mmmmmm…I think I”m going to go look in my fridge….for some ice-cream!!!!!!!!!

dwlt has gotten 17 cheers on this entry.
