this drives me bonkers! am I the only one who hears this? do I have something in my listening that makes it worse for me than other people. I really hate barking dogs!

I use the foam kind- but it makes me mad that I have to stick stuff in my ears because people are rude enough to let their dogs bark so much! I want my ears to be foam free!

I know, but the point is that you want to go to sleep, don’t lose sight of it. In occasions as these I try to be practical: dogs aren’t barking because you are going to sleep, you are not the center of the world, nobody is willingly and purposefully being rude against you. As Descartes used to say: “when we cannot change the world, we must change ourselves”. Earplugs are not such a big compromise when it comes to changing ourselves.
Of course you can stick to the other option, and try to change the world: killing the dog is the easiest way, like in the movie “Keeping Mum”... I loved that movie!

there are 9 dogs within 3 houses of me! maybe I need to learn to shoot a gun! I have tried rocks- but I have really bad aim. I’m sure I heard the dogs laughing. ... and are you so sure it’s not purposeful rudeness… I’m not so sure. They’ve been asked over the years by several neighbors to take care of the problem, one neighbor even tried calling the police- to no avail. I have a dog myself, who loves to bark, but I keep him inside and quiet at night. Also, I love to complain about this issue. Seriously, I have very little in my life to complain about. I think I’ll check out this movie…

Maggie Smith kills the barking dog preventing her from sleeping. I’m afraid the movie is very british and takes quite an objection to people from US… so you might need some drops of english sense of humour to enjoy it, but the movie is full of excellent actors and is indeed big fun. Extremely politically uncorrect, as you can imagine.
