About

11 hours all up. First of all a one hour flight to Auckland, and then a 7 hour 45 minute flight to Perth. Because it’s an international flight, I have to allow enough time in Auckland to get between domestic and international terminals, go through security and immigration etc, even though I can check in right through to Perth from Wellington.

This trip

is to visit friends and family in Perth and Sydney, so I will be only spending two weeks in Australia. I’ve seen a reasonable amount of Australia over the years, and have lived there a couple of times, so I’ve never done an “all around Australia in one go trip.”

With the expense of getting there from the US, and also the size of Australia itself, it would be good if you could plan for a month’s holiday. Of course if you have more time, then you could also visit New Zealand :)

I went there for a quick visit over Easter and drove up to the Swan Valley.
