1) Several male red winged blackbirds (awesome in flight) and one female of the species (much duller; poor thing)
2) A palm warbler (neon yellow!)
3) A downy woodpecker (I spotted him first and was so proud)
4) A few towhees (heard more than seen; they kept flying out of sight)
5) A cardinal (so bright!)
6) A few goldfinches
7) A few red tailed hawks… pretty
8) Four turkey vultures circling overhead
9) A kestrel (SO cool)
10) A bunch of diving bufflehead ducks
11) A spotted sandpiper
12) Some greater yellow-legged sandpipers
13) An egret or two
14) Some blue-winged teals
15) A black duck
...and probably a few more things that I can’t remember.
Oh! And many nests of eastern tree caterpillars, which I don’t think I’d seen properly before. They’re really interesting.
