The Search feature in 43Things is very, very specific when it comes to finding people.
When I type “Marmot” in the search field, it only yields me people who are exactly named Marmot. Like this guy.
Search does not yield “Marmotry” or “Marmot3”.
How did GrammaG find Marmotfan and Marmotfanfan?
but I would almost bet money that Marmotry’s “abandoned alter-ego” does NOT include the name “marmot”.
Marmot would not name his alter ego Marmot. How can we get someone to bet against us and earn a lot of money?
We do have a clue from Marmot. The alter-ego made his list of goals at 43T with great excirtement and enthusiasm. Then, Marmot abandoned him. It broke his (alter-ego’s heart). He never got around to posting any entries.

I did a search for Marmotry which uncovered two people wanting to meet said Marmotry. I clicked and voila, marmotfan and marmotfanfan. I was amused to see no fewer than 20 goals revolving around Marmotry. I knew he was popular, but I had no idea…

You can do a truncated search by placing a * at the end of your search term. So if you’re looking for all things that include marmot, type marmot* and you’ll get a list of user-names that include that word. It looks like you aren’t looking for variations of that user-name anymore, but the trick might come in handy some other time. : )
