I love mushrooms. Always have. I read an article in Yoga Journal a few months ago about growing your own mushrooms and I have always wanted to since then. When I walk my dog I notice all of the mushrooms in Highland and it makes me wish that I owned my home so I could have a big mushroom garden. One of the reasons I want to go to Madisonville is to go to the Mushroom Festival they have there. I would love to drink Texan wine and eat succulant mushrooms. Anyway, you can order a kit for like $30 and start your own mushroom farm. How cool is that? I hope to have started this by September 1.

A terrarium
Mycology is fun! you can grow some of the more rarer mushrooms in a terrarium (eating ones I mean), the only thing that you’ll find is once they start growing, quite frankly they don’t stop and you end up with bags of dried, pickled whatever’d mushrooms. I used to have a mushroom box under my sink at my old appt and would dry the mushrooms and swap them with market stall holders at the local market for stuff.
Actually we’re coming up to mushroom season in Australia for the rarer stuff and the Polish Community have these big Mycology treks which I’m dying to go on.
Can’t encourage you enough in this. They’re cheap, healthy, and taste great if you know how to use them properly.
