I’ve attempted to do this several times. However, I’ve never gotten much further than the first few chapters in Genesis. And I love to read! But all the names and genealogy bogs me down. And I end up quitting before I’ve even really begun. I’ve heard that you aren’t actually encouraged to read the bible from front to back, but actually in a different order. However, I don’t know what that order is.

Comments:
I have managed to read the Bible Cover to cover quite some time back. I was attempting to do it in 1 year but manage to do it in about 4 months.
Tried programs that prescribed what passage to read on what day of the year to complete the Bible reading in one year. The problem with that is, it takes tremendous discipline to keep up. And once we fall back, we feel naturally discouraged. The program that took me through the entire bible is in a form of a small sheet that have little boxes that denotes all the chapters in the Bible. Each time we read a chapter, just cross out the box for that chapter. I may not be reading from Genesis first. That is fine with this program. My mood swings and I feel like reading Ecclesiastes. So, at one sitting, I would be finishing 12 chapters.
You see, if you are to finish the Bible in a year, on average, you must read 3 chapters a day on weekdays and 5 chapters on Sundays.
Another program that will help you finish the Bible in a year is get an Audio Bible and an iPOD. :) Just have the Bible read to you wherever you are.
Those are some great ideas! Thank you! I’ve already got an iPOD so I think an audio Bible sounds like a good plan. =)
