..when used in moderation for small parties and get togethers, but most people don’t ever do that. They find it cool and more invigerating to drink until they can’t remember a single thing and thats when things get scary. If people knew how to handle and control themselves, there wouldn’t be this problem. However, thats not the case…

I totally agree. It’s a serious drug that devastates millions. I feel very strongly about it.

When you look at the statistics of drunk driving deaths, not to mention other deaths directly attributable to alcohol, it’s unbelievable that it has not been outlawed.

I drink occasionally, and have been doing that for only a few years but I can totally live without it.

It’s one thing to have fun with it, it’s another thing to become addicted, or selfishly get in your car and drive, or beat someone up because of it.

My husband is an alcoholic. It strains marriages, does social, emotional, economic and physical harm to the drinker, their family, friends, co-workers. He refuses to see the damage that this has caused. I am baffled as to why I can get a ticket for driving around the block without a seat belt but can drive down the interstate at 75 mph on a motorcycle with no helmet and a couple of drinks under my belt and that’s ok. Those who make the laws drink, and the law does not pertain to them I guess. Although I think smoking is bad I think alcohol is worse and yet nothing is done about it. How sad

Just about everywhere we go your invited to have alcohol. It’s so sad. I’m a minority because I don’t drink. That’s not right.
I don’t drink at all. Don’t get me wrong, I did my share in my younger years when I was being cool .. .. It took me a while to realize it’s cooler to not drink.
I’ve left parties, quit clubs etc. because of the alcohol.
Life goes on without it for some of us. Life can end early for some of them.

Think of all the speakeasys that opened during the last prohibition. It makes criminals out of ordinary people who would just enjoy a glass of wine, or a beer after work.

It puts too much power over our personal lives into the hands of the government. It makes people who make, supply, and sell the illegal substances rich, creating an underworld of crime.

We can’t make everything illegal just because some people will abuse it. People who are going to abuse alcohol or pot or other drugs will usually do so legal or otherwise. And many teens try something simply because it is illegal, its part of their rebellion. Its not nearly as much fun to do something that’s legal! Let’s face it!

We all need to be held accoutable for our actions, drunk or sober, stoned or straight. Driving under the influence does need to carry a heavy penatly to discourage it, and we need very stiff laws for harming others, no matter what our state of mind or soberness.

I didn’t ask for opinions on how you might think MY GOAL is wrong.
I see many goals I don’t agree with and I just pass them by without a cheer.
It’s pretty simple but I guess you drinkers feel the need to boast about drinking being legal.
I’ve actually seen goals where people say they want to be able to drink more and not get sick.
Now that is a goal we all should have .. .. NOT

I should say that I am not against a drink now and again, but I wish more and more people could see the seriousness of over drinking. Too many drunk drivers on the road, etc

Dear Queen of Teas ~ I completely support you on this. Alcohol gives you headaches, makes you sick, brings on guilt and depression, lands you in circumstances you don’t really want to be in, results in disease or pregnancy, increases violence, destroys familys, and kills loved ones. Most people do not plan for any of these results…but are willing to gamble all of these for a few moments of “relaxing”. These defensive people know there is no REAL reason for drinking…not even “in moderation”. What’s the point of that? If they can’t relax on their own…by now…as an adult…maybe they need to get a pacifier and a blankie..or perhaps a fishtank! These folks (even though they may be the majority)...are not thinking intellectually! Once we, as a human race, figure out how to enjoy ourselves and our lives just the way we are…and…live without numbing ourselves, we’ll ALL be better off.
