make new real friends (read all 5 entries…)
Finished my run 2 years ago

at about 5 in the afternoon yesterday and my neighbor waved me over. Jim’s in his early 50s and I don’t see him much, but I like him. He’s very friendly. He was drinking Chardonnay and he offered me a beer. I really wanted to refrain, but I have a hard time turning down beer. He brought out a ¾ liter Belgian-style ale. That was it! We tossed them back like college students. We really don’t have a lot in common and he is SO gay and I am SO not. But we live in similar style houses and so there’s a lot to talk about there. Long story short, we eventually stumbled (and I mean stumbled) down to his basement storage and because he saw me out in the park running he wanted to give me some of his exercise equipment he doesn’t use. Don’t know if I’ll ever use any of it, but it was a nice gesture. And we had a good time. He’s my kind of neighbor!

Yep

and after I left he headed off to bed and I went home and stretched out on the couch. (old farts gone wild) :)

He sounds like a really nice guy :)

He is

super nice. We had a great time getting drunk together. :)

that sounds great...

you don’t necessarily have to have a lot in common to be friends…sometimes diversity rules…I’m glad you found such a nice friend so close to home!

Me too

Once in a while he’ll wave to me and say, “I’m getting drunk” and I’ll just have to go over and participate. Drinking is usually the universal uniter. :)
