Reduce my ecological footprint (read all 10 entries…)

inspiring...  — 1 year ago

When I was in college, a group of friends and I went for a weekend to a cabin in the mountains somewhere. We didn’t have any trash service while we were there, so we tried to make as little trash as possible, recycling and composting what we could. After 3 or 4 days, with 6 or 8 people, we had about a half a bread bag filled with trash. A friend told me a story that reminded me of this this week. Why can’t we live our whole lives like that? Why can’t we bring those ideas home from vacation?

Packaging makes me soooo angry

I’m trying really hard to buy things that have less packaging, but sometimes I buy something not even realizing that it’s got some horrid plastic insert and it drives me nuts!

Our area is supposed to get green bins soon (to recycle pretty much anything organic in case you can’t compost on your own) and I can’t wait. I’m hoping to get down to virtually no garbage.
