Study Abroad

I went to Mexico to learn Spanish, because it was cheaper than Spain. And looking back, i wouldnt trade my year in Mexico for ANYTHING.

Truth is, studying abroad in Mexico is not your typical study abroad experience, because of the fact that its a so-called “third world country.” But on the other hand, my experience living in a third world country was not exactly typical either, because of the fact that i was studying at one of the classiest private universities in Mexico. There is wealth in Mexico, and a lot of it. I was surrounded by it every day at my university. But for a variety of reasons, that wealth does not distribute to the common people, as i saw every day when i went out from my sheltered university life. I saw poverty i can´t comprehend, contrasted against riches beyond imagination. I went from being almost libertarian to being practically socialist in a matter of months. I made some of the best friends i´ll ever know, and watch helplessly as they try to make a life for themselves in the midst of corruption. I love the Mexican way of life. The language. The people. And i´m pissed off at that my country treats them. With any luck, i wont have to live here much longer. VIVA MEXICO, CABRONES!!!!!
