my boss (and FRIEND) of ten years left the company two days ago. it was a good thing that i was out of town on the day he flew out. but he called me yesterday. to say bye-bye. he said he called because he said he wanted to tell me bye-bye himself.
and that is why he is my friend.
and i cried.
but i do not feel bad about about this particular cry.
it was a good, sad cry.
I don’t know what the larger story is with it, but crying is actually a good thing to do, if doing it allows you to feel what you’re feeling, and let it out, and to honor the emotion behind it. There’s no shame in it, no shame at all. That sounds like what you’re talking about, anyway, with this “good cry”.
It’s good to cry when a friend is leaving, and you’re going to miss that friend. So. Right on. Cheers.

the larger story is that i cry way too easily in frustration. its really in bad form to cry for this reason at work. its counter productive, makes people uncomfortable.
i cry without much provocation in other occasions too (watching a movie, talking to husband and kids, happy situations, sad situations, proud moments, etc). i don’t have a problem with those.
