About ten years ago I read about yurts in Mother Earth News. I started fantasizing about putting one up in the woods somewhere. I haven’t come any closer to realizing this, but I’d love to stay in one. Then I could find out if yurt living could work for me. If nothing else it would be fun.
I was lucky enough to stay in a yurt in rural Northern California several times last summer. The first night I slept in the middle right under the peak window. It was magical to look up at the convergence of beams with the stars in the center. Ahhh!
There were mice though :-( but it was on a farm, so that’s to be expected.

Have a go, I slept in a number of them in Mongolia, where there called Ger’s (Sounds like bear) and it was great fun.. cool in summer, cosy in winter.. :)
