Create a budget, and stick with it (read all 15 entries…)
My budget... 1 year ago

is almost done…I’ve just got to make sure my adviser is okay with it. I worked very hard on it on Saturday and Sunday afternoons!

Go, team, go!

Great job! You just made up your mind, and you did it. Incredible.

What are your plans for part 2, “stick with it”? How will you make sure you are within budgeted spending amounts, and make adjustments if necessary?

I have to say it feels like you are the lead dog on this team at this moment. But I’ll get there, I will.

Sticking with it

Well, I was crazy and left my budget at my weekend travel destination (my adopted mother’s house), because I went out of town this weekend, too. So, I’m waiting for it (along with some books and DVDs and other papers) to be mailed back to me. I am trying desperately to write down my spending every day…cash, check and debit transactions. I have rounded up receipts and wrote them all down on Monday afternoon. I will compare the categories of that to my budget. Hopefully I’ll be able to make that judgement this weekend. I have a feeling I’m going to see just how much these expenditures here and there add up, though.

BTW, a few minutes ago I e-mailed my adviser with my budget and savings updates, so it’s in her hands at the moment. (I’m a little nervous, because I asked her whether a trip I want to go on is a wise decision or not, and I really want to go…but really don’t know if it’s wise or not…if not I’m not going, of course, but if she thinks it’s okay, then I’m definitely going.)

See this entry for further information on ‘sticking with it.’
