Collect old computers and related stuff
Back in time

I am retro freak. Big time. I love all things that remind me of my youth ( 80’s—90’s). Especially computers, magazines and TV/Movies memorabilia. I have always wanted to buy some old computers to decorate my already packed room, and even use them once in a while.

ummmm....

As the spouse of someone who “collects” computers for spare parts, all I can say is I hope you have adequate storage space for them. The extra clutter can quickly take over your life!

Space : the final frontier :-)

You are quite right, Katie.
As a matter of fact, there is hardly any space left in my room. I can only hope that by rearranging some furniture, here and there, I will be able to get some sort of wooden case where I can place a few old computers. There is nothing like home; even more so there is nothing like your very room, thus I want to make it as special and as pleasant as possible :-)

The ZX Spectrum was my first computer...

... and I remember these little rubber keyed, 48K creatures with tremendous affection.

I discovered this: Hey Hey 16K. It’s a song about the 16K Spectrum. Anyone who’s been there and done that will remember all those screens they show in the background. :)

The Amstrad 464 was my...

... next computer. It had a built in tape recorder and didn’t need to be plugged into the TV as it had it’s own monitor. (Wow!!) I never got quite the same buzz on that as I did on the ZX Spectrum though.

I liked hacking into the game software to get around the copy protection, to give myself infinite game lives, and for other, similar things. I taught myself Z80 assembly language partly to do this & partly because I loved messing about with the the low level stuff. You could really get your hands into the technical nitty-gritty with the old computers. In fact, it was the only way to get them to do some things.

I worshipped Clive Sinclair (along with a lot of other people)!
