Move to NYC (read all 2 entries…)
a little closer...a little more restless! 2 years ago

so ive been doing some consulting work on the side, the fruits of which are going straight into the NYC fund. paper is stacking nicely…and the closer i get the more antsy i get. i just want to drop everything and go now…but patience, young grasshopper! haha…

ive been checking out places on craigslist and the paper and “monster”-ing my resume out there like crazy. why is it that in january, when i wasnt even close to being ready to move i was getting calls like crazy. even got three offers. but now that its almost time the job market is dry for me. haha…

so if any of you guys have a scoop on a dope pad in the est village, west village, chelsea-ish area, let a girl know! also, any hot job prospects…i need all the help i can get to be in the N Y C! soon enough! :-)

your story sounds similar to mine. I got a (contracting) job working for the city of NY doing Java stuff. I’m going to sign a lease tomorrow for an apt in the East village. It ain’t cheap for someone coming from MI. It’s going to be 1650/month, but having looked around I realized I’m getting a very good spot for that money. It’s rent stabilized too which means they can’t raise the rent on you. Lets see how the rest of it goes…

im so jealous!

wow…im green with envy. you are so much closer than me. how was the apt hunting? did it take you a while to find a place? and was the process horrible? i heard to get a place in nyc you practically have to give up your firt born! lol…you should have waited for me, we could have gotten a share :-P haha…but yea, congrats. i love the village area…ive been looking in the east and west village.

I had a hard time getting a job offer, but once I got there & interviewed, I had several offers. I moved 3 mos ago. move 4 less moved me and did a great job. I found them at moveu4less.com
