So this was my first trip to the eye doctor that my parents weren’t paying for (it’s been a long time since I’ve been). My mom always used to complain that the yearly exam was $100+ and, since I wear contacts (Night & Days…so they’re kinda pricey too) that was going to be expensive. But my insurance includes optical care so my copay was only $20 for the exam. The insurance didn’t give me a great deal on the contacts (only 10% off of $250 a year’s supply), but I did score a $100 rebate. So the trip did end up costing plenty, but I just finished making a year’s supply of contacts last two and a half years so I think I can at least stretch it a bit.
As a side note, I fully endorse the Focus Night & Day contacts. You can put them in and take them out in a month. Plus, my prescription hadn’t changed in 2.5 years and the doctor said that the Night & Days “hold your eye in” more to prevent your vision from worsening. I was skeptical when my doctor first offered them to me two and a half years ago (because sleeping in contacts always left me with a sticky, blurry mess), but now I could never go back to anything less than having Lasik surgery.
