the list 2 years ago

This is what I want to do (in no particular order)

-Trim the pine trees in the back so the branches are up higher
-plant some shade plants under the trees
-create a border between the grass and the area under the tress as well as next to the garrage and in front of the house.
- plant creeping juniper in front of the small retaining wall so I don’t have to mow there.
-built a brick sidewalk from the front stairs to the garrage.
-replace the small retaining wall with concrete blocks that look more like stone.
-build tiered retaining walls in the back so I have a large flat area where I can have a patio and a fire pit.
-remove all the weeds on the far side of the garrage and put in a ground cover that will come back.
-trim all the bushes so it looks less like a jungle.

I know this entry was from a while ago

But you’ve got some great goals there! I just want grass to grow in the dirt in my front yard. That’s all.

blincolnw needs to update this list!

yard work

Yea I really want to make the house look a lot more appealing from the outside. If I had a couple of weeks off and enough money I’m sure I could get most of it done but it’s just one list of many things I want to do there. I get confused about where to start. For example I want to plant some flowers in front of the porch, but I also need to fix the saggy floor in the porch and I hope to extend it out 2 extra feet to make it more comfortable. So do I go ahead with the planting or wait until I do all the work on the porch itself?

With this dry weather lately my grass is getting very dried out and some is disappearing too. Now I also have a skunk who digs holes in my lawn at night. Having a yard is sure a lot of work. Maybe this will help you

I want to get all the weeds out of my lawn eventually too. I think maybe my list is too big.

Fix the porch first

Or you know what you could do, put flowers in containers so that you have the beauty until you can fix the porch.

But man to plant then fix, you will increase your work load. You’ll have to dig up what plants you want to keep and move them, you won’t have a large window of time once you’ve uprooted them.

So really you’ll be fixing the porch digging up a garden and digging another to put the plants in.

Now if you use containers as a temp home. They are ground ready when you are, and you’ve the added benefit of the beauty of them in front.

Did I just make sense.
