I like this list because it acknowledges actual scary moments so some films have multiple entries here, as opposed to the Bravo list which basically commented on multiple moments within each movie listed.

83 scary scenes viewed already, and 17 to go.

Comments:

Evil Dead 2, lmao

ahhh… I remember that one!

Also, To Kill A Mockingbird? The film that is based on the famous novel by Harper Lee? How can that be classified as a horror movie? It’s a good film and a good book as well but I wouldn’t classify it as horror.

Not Horror, But Scary Moments

This list is specifically about scary moments. It is not a list of the best horror films.

For example, the dancing pink elephants of Dumbo is very scary and made the list, but isn’t a horror film.

To Kill A Mockingbird had a scary scene where the two kids were walking home alone in the dark after the school play and they were being followed. That was a very scary film moment.

To find out more about the list and what scene is represented, click here.

ahhhh, gotcha!

The movies listed are not the horror movie list, they are the scary moments of films! That makes more sense :-P

I’ll have to check out the list. Although, for many of them them I can already see why. Deliverance was quite scary for me especially when I moved upstate! Stephen King’s The Shining (mini-series) terrified me, and the Misery ankle smashing scene always makes me cringe! When I was young I found Willie Wonka in the Chocolate Factory quite scary, which is how I’m sure Roald Dahl had intended it.

One that I think should be on and isn’t there is Stephen King’s It… when I was a kid that movied affected me so badly. To the point I was pretty much scared to bursh my teeth and such in the bathroom for fear that blood would come out of the sink or an evil clown out of the drain!

Another movie I remember finding disturbing was Last House on the Left!

Some of my all-time favourite films are on the list too. The Birds, Psycho, Halloween, and An American Werewolf In London are among my favourites. I’ve always loved horror films. I think my favourite character would have to be Dr. Sam Loomis from Halloween ;-) How about you?

Do you remember the original film Jeeper Creeper that came out a few years back? Wasn’t that the most awesome movie until you actually found out that the killer was actually this bat-like thing named “The Creeper” lmao. I just thought the whole beginning was so scary and awesome… when they were down in that pit of bodies and all… excellent… when Creeper was flying off after them… corny!

LunaNueva is counting down for the Geminid meteor shower

Snow White??? Where is it???

THE scariest moment EVER was when the witch is trying to throw a rock over a cliff. And it’s pouring rain. And she is laughing wickedly. ::GASP:: I hate that movie. It scarred me forever!

How can this movie be marketed for children?? Well, because it’s not on THIS LIST! LOL!

And don’t get me started when she talks to the mirror… or when she hands the poisoned apple… OMG!! That movie is pure EVIL!!

You haven't seen

Reservoir Dogs?

Christine loves bumbling around in Belgium

I recommend...

...Akira. It had some very creepy moments in it. Awesome music, you’ll like it I think :)

Loved Reservoir Dogs, it’s got some unusual filming in it and is very Tarantino.

Kill a Mockingbird… bootiful, very sweet movie when you didn’t have to blow up anything to make a point. :)

ToddieM Those who can take all life throws at them with a kind heart and smile

I don’t get why the Mockinbird is even on the list.
Is it because of Boo Radley, and the dare to go up to the porch?

Walk In The Woods

Click here to see the full description and video of the scene.

The two kids are walking home alone through the woods after the school play. The one kid is still in her costume from the play. As they’re walking, she is knocked down and can’t see that her brother is being attacked.

Cool Goal!

I used to have a friend that shared my interest in horror flicks, at one point we must have rented out just about every horror flick there was at this one video store.

Scary Movies

I can’t remember the name of it, but the one where Kevin Bacon is able to make himself invisible, it came out a few years ago, and that has really got some scary scenes in it!

Hollow Man

That was a very scary movie, more from the warped mind of Kevin Bacon’s character than from anything else. The whole rain scenes were an incredible use of CGI technology, though Kevin was present in each of those scenes to help make the effects.

Another great scary movie Kevin is in is Stir Of Echoes. What, you thought I’d say Footloose?

Kevin Bacon and the Horror/Thriller Genre

Yeah, and Kevin Bacon was also in “Flatliners” (somewhat scary, but more of a thriller or suspense movie than an actual horror flick.) He’s also in “Friday The 13th Part 3”.

Well, the scene in “Footloose” where Lori Singer is standing on the train track with an oncoming train was pretty scary (at least the very first time I saw the movie anyway.)

The Original Dr.Jekyll And Mr. Hyde

The scenes where Mr.Hyde is chasing after this blonde bombshell trying to seduce her, as she is totally repulsed and scared out of her wits by him, are kind of frightening when you consider the year the film was made, there’s a scene during that part of the film that was probably considered kind of racy at the time.

The Changeling

One of my all-time favorites! Great list!

What did you think

of the Wicker Man? Isn’t Elke Sommer in that? Or is it Brit Eklund? I know it’s someone from Hollywood Squares.

Brit Ekland

I liked this 1973 film. (I did not watch the Nic Cage remake as I don’t care for him.) While some classify this as a horror film, to me it is more a thriller. What an intense mystery that you are pulled into as little pieces are revealed to you at the same time as the lead character finds them out. The dramatic ending really captured the intensity of this thriller, as you are left drained at the end wondering just when and where will this happen again in real life.

Yes, I'm not fond of Nic Cage remakes, either.

I’m a huge fan of ‘Wings of Desire’, and think it was a criminal act that they made that horrific copy, ‘City of Angels’. Although he is wonderful in original movies, though, like ‘Wild at Heart’.

I remember seeing ‘Wicker Man’ in Ionia, MI, the day after attending a bonfire party at my friends house where we camped around the bonfire. It was a very pagan weekend.

Wicker Man (the original) was a great film.

At one point when I first saw it I wondered if it wasn’t just some hoax, or if things weren’t going to be as bad as they seemed.

And yeah Brit Ekland was hot in that. I rather enjoyed some of the rituals in that film too. :-)
