I’ve never been afraid of the dentist so it’s kind of cheating that I marked this goal as complete. I can kind of understand why people are scared of the dentist… Like I feel the same way when I go to get my hair highlighted, lol. I don’t go as often as you’re supposed to, it’s fucking expensive, and when I do go, I always get lectured about not going and how my roots have grown in. Thinking of sitting there getting yelled at and wasting my whole afternoon becomes an experience I don’t like. But I still go eventually because I like the end result (not the 100$ given to JC Penney, but the shiny blonde on my head).

It’s like this with the dentist, but a much bigger deal. People, please don’t stop going! Because here is what will happen, I’ve seen it happen in my own parent and others… You get a broken tooth or a wiggly tooth and you think you have it under control. You take Orajel or your daughter’s leftover Vicodin (ahem) to ease the pain. But your breath starts stinking, and it’s really gross to others when your teeth start bleeding (had a teacher with this problem, and it bled in class frequently, eww) and wiggling. But no one will tell you because everyone is too polite. So you become known as bleeding gums or stinky mouth. Not good.

So be proactive!! 15 minutes in the dentist chair is worth it!!And while it’s not fun to get “ridiculed” by your dentist (although it is often said with concern it can feel like a personal jab… once had the dental hygienist tell me I had plague back on my back molars. It was 2 days after I had my wisdom teeth pulled and I still couldn’t open my mouth all the way. Duh. But still it was like, hey lady, whoa. Insulting here.)... Just think of it this way, you get a free toothbrush out of the deal.
