Ride to all stops of all the Chicago "L" lines (read all 8 entries…)
Added Bronzeville/35th/IIT 2 years ago

Ok, so adding the Bronzeville/35th/IIT Green Line stop isn’t all that impressive in the larger scheme, but I’m very pleased. I have discovered that I can save 2 or 3 blocks of walking and about 3 miles of over-crowded trains by taking the Green line from Ogilvie Station to Bronzeville on the Green line when I go to see a Sox game. This is a big deal.

It makes me feel like I am no longer an L n00b. I pwn teh L.

Photographs please, add some photos!

Your posts I think would be very much enhanced if you were to add a photo of something you catch either from the window of the train or from a platform somewhere.

I know this is asking more, but someone has to motivate you to further heights, don’t you think?

I’m not so very great at photos, and anyway I left my digital with my separated wife in south Georgia. My avatar, you see, is of a special train ride, on an engine borrowed from the Southwest Georgia limited, the one which takes people through Plains and Americus.

The occasion for the ride or trip in the avatar photo is the bicentennery of Pembroke, in Bryan County, Georgia. The image is taken while the train is parked in Pembroke station which is on Route 280, the old highway from Effingham to Columbus, Georgia.

Speaking of Chicago train travel, I caught the Metra from a NW line, in Woodstock, Illinois to Cary, Illinois last night. I stood in the car at the front and watched the lines diverge from the horizon toward us as we rushed forward at around 50 miles to 69 mph, I think I recall.

This ride will be memorable because I found two little containers of water on the car step. Turns out they were the conductor’s water. I had drunk them both. (YIkes! I owe him now).

Photos

Yeah, I probably should take more pictures in general. It would probably make my entries more interesting.

Now, if both computers at home were hooked to the internet, I could put my iPhoto library to use. But no, I’m slacking off on that goal.

I was wondering about your avatar photo. And yeah, Metra does go really fast on some of those long stretches. You an upstairs or donwstairs train rider?
