make a difference in this world (read all 5 entries…)
To do something, anything is hard. 2 years ago

It’s much easier to blame your father, your mother, the environment, the government, the lack of money, but even if you find a place to assign the blame, it doesn’t make the problems go away.

I’ve never been a protestor or an activist, but I believe strongly in organizations that promote peace through constructive action, such as Peaceworks. www.peaceworks.com My way of making a difference in this big old world is by buying products from companies that are trying to make a difference in the world, such as Meditalia. The philosophy of Meditalia, through their business partnership among Israelis and Arabs, is that shared wallets lead to shared visions of the future. I think this is a great thing and should be the mold for a lot of similar movements in the world.

Great quote

and I TOTALLY agree with your take on the best way to make a difference. It’s why I bought my Prius. I’ve never heard of Meditalia, but I’ll have to check it out.

Thank you

The quote has such meaning, I think. And when I watched the movie I had to write it down because it is so profound.

The Prius is a good thing and many people are going that way because it’s easier on the pocketbook and leads the way to better fuel efficient cars. You are making a difference. When my Ford Taurus broke down in 2005 I knew I had to go to something fuel efficient (and reliable). So I bought a Honda CRV. But I would love to get a car that uses alternative fuels. Not so convenient right now – but they will be.

The pocketbook issue

is one thing, and in part is set off by a higher purchase price. I considered it my small-scale way of encouraging auto makers into seeking a different direction.

I guess there are a few prototype cars in DC that are using hydrogen fuel. But I still like the “Back to the Future” idea of using garbage! :D

Most new technologies

are expensive at first. Of course the first car was much more expensive than the buggy, but people were willing to take a chance on cars because there was hope that the technology for cars would improve and they would become much more convenient than buggies. I believe that will happen will transportation technologies. And there is other factors playing into the equation now, too, such as global warming and the depletion of fossil fuels.

Yeah, what was that scientist’s name in “Back to the Future?” What an idea! I’d love to use garbage to fuel the car.

I just remembered

Marty calling him “Doc”, but imdb tells me it was Dr. Emmett Brown. I’ve always loved Christopher Lloyd – he was such a kick on Taxi, too!

Taxi

loved that show!
