Darn! How am I ever going to get to do this when people keep buying me great books for my birthday/graduation/etc?! I have I whole stack I still need to read…should I let Tolstoy skip the queue?

Don't skip it
You should read it if you have a wish to think a lot (don’t give up reading on half) and don’t think that the truth is on the surface. It is deeper than it seems.
Any detail can make you understand the philosophical idea of a whole book…
As to me I’ve read it twice. Not just ‘for check’ , but for my understanding. I like it really
So, good luck

My advice would be – throw in the towel. I have tried; I truly have tried to like Tolstoy…but I get to page 17 every time on War & Peace and then I glaze over and wish I could be reading something that I actually enjoy.
You see, I want to be able to tell people I have read Tolstoy, but the sad truth is that it bores the crap out of me.
There; I have confessed.
PS I have read Chekov, Orwell, Dickens, Austen and I LOVE SHAKESPEARE – so I am not living in a total cultural oasis here. I am just being honest

Tolstoi’s great. I read Anna Karenina and it’s one of the best ones..
It’s very deep, very emotiona.. Hard to describe it but you just gotta read it to find out.
