memorize the block numbers of major Chicago streets (read all 3 entries…)
it's amazing what a car can do

memorizing streets is a lot easier to do when driving. Waiting at a stop light and noting what street and number it is. Sure that can happen on the bus too, but I’m usually burying my face in a book or in some internet printouts.

Like, I just realized that 5600, a factor of 8 (thereby should be a major street), is actually Bryn Mawr Ave. BRYN MAWR? WHAT? Uh right. I never thought of Bbbrrryyynnn Mmmaaawwwrrr (said in long drawn-out sarcastic tone) was a major street in Chicago. Ah well, now thanks to car, i realize that is. Congratulations Bryn Mawr, the street with two words but only one vowel.

yes!

Bryn Mawr is easy for me to remember because it has a red line stop, too, so it must be important.

Buses are easy for me because I get motion sick so I’m never reading. And the bus goes ding and announces every street, so it’s always in my consciousness.

Walking is the easiest way to remember, because the whole memory tends to be more interesting. :)

7000 north

let’s see, that is Lunt Ave. (I had to look that up).

haha! I like that sun joke. I’m gonna use that whenever someone tells me that I live way up north.

We are so far north, that we gotta watch out for solar flares. The funny thing is that the further north you go, the colder it gets. Maybe this whole “the sun is hot” thing is all wrong. The sun is actually one big cold-emitting snowball. And when it snows, it’s actually pieces of the sun falling off to earth.

This just in! The color of the sun has been incorrectly inversed for all this time. See the image associated with this post for the true color of the sun! Scientists say, “when something is that far away, the colors tend to get messed up, so yeah, when we thought the sun was like, kinda yellowy and reddish, it was actually blue—y’know, like a big snowball. So uh. Yeah.”
