Having stopped, I got to hear THIS
...and I feel strangely attracted to the idea (of claiming to be from Alabam’).

This anecdote does NOT clear things up. It is not illustrative of anything.
A girl asked me “Lemme change the subject. What kinda music are you into?” I said “Country music.” Which was the wrong answer. The right one woulda been “synth pop”, but I nailed every one of her Swedish references correctly. She came running after me when I left the party. Weird. Maybe my wedding ring is too “un-wedding-ringy”.
Her final words: “You take care, and listen to [some Swedish synth pop bands] a lot.” You bet.
