Lots of people here want to be better Christians, but only 37% of the people on 43Things who have done this reported that it’s worth doing. Others who are still working on this goal seem to be inactive. This is one of Jesus’ most difficult teachings. My first reaction when someone attacks me or does something to me is to be defensive. Should I even respond to them? I’m not talking about a physical attack, but I mean when somebody confronts you, maybe in front of others. I immediately feel the urge to counterattack or go on the defensive to protect my feelings, reputation, pride, or position – to justify myself. Maybe I should just ignore them… Maybe there is a bit of truth in their accusation. Maybe, even if they came after me without love, in a spirit of aggression, I should just move on and reflect on their point when I am alone with God.
