jiggskc building my EMPIRE
i grew up biking everywhere. it was my mode of transport. in a culdesac with my two brothers; no hands around the block … michael made it 98% of the way before he looked back and hit his noggin on a tree. To the park, or the Safeway that had our arcade games. this was our way. Faster than roller blades, or skateboards, which we also used – dirt bikes were king!
Awhile ago i was getting pulled over for driving with out a license pretty regularly. Mostly, because to rectify the first incident, one had to go through this horrible ordeal of bending over and taking it in the ass from the courts.
During this asstaking experiment, i rode my bike, i peddled hard and fast in the morning, rearranged habits, got to know the woman at the dry cleaners; folded my clothes in backpacks; picked out shoes for funtionality; figured out the bus schedule; found a sense of worth without going to iraq, or honing my sniper skills; and i lost weight.
Eventually, i paid the courts, bought a car off my best friend, and drove off into this whole other existance. Recently, i was plowed into by a woman running a red and have come back to the bicycle as a means of functional transportation. At first i was a bit embarrased. My dad has really taken bicycling off road in the last 6 months, taking on trails and mountain rocks on his Specialized Hardrock SPort.
My Diamondback just does not seem to cut it anymore. its old and out dated … the gears are scarred and blunted; and it only sticks to two gears (barely). i used the hell outta that thing!
i’m looking at trek 7.3 HybridFX Fitness Road bike, a Giant Cypress ST or a Hardrock Sport like my dad’s, or quite possibly another diamond back mountain bike.
As it is, i’m biking my ass off. But it’s kinda kewl i’m not complaining bout the gas prices – or sending our military off to a pointless war. i’m working on cleaning up New Orleans, and not building up Vegas.
As this progresses, i will eventually purchase some sort of vehicle but i’m thinking Vespa Grand Tourismo or Motorcycle and not S.U.V.
i’m most excited about picking up my bike from the bike shop on Wednesday.
