make poverty history (read all 5 entries…)
Untitled 2 years ago

“A two-day-old baby girl in India has survived after being buried alive in a field by her maternal grandfather in the south of the country” (source). And, the grandfather says he could not afford keeping her! It’s beyond comprehension what poverty makes people do.

“[Indian] government figures suggest that around 10 million girls have been killed by their parents – either in the womb or immediately after birth – over the past two decades.”

So sad

I would happily take them. Maybe not all ten million… but I’d try with as many as I could.

You can sponsor if you like

I do...

...sponsor two children internationally already. I meant, though, that it’s a shame that there are babies produced, for lack of effective birth control or whatever, that are unwanted, when there are so many people who would be willing to give them homes.

That's great

I am delighted to learn that you already sponsor two children internationally. Yes, it is a pity about the babies who are killed due to poverty. I want to do more to make poverty history. You are smart – perhaps you can advise me about how.

Just look at the state of the world:
