I FINALLY FINALLY have mastered pie crust. Saw the newest issue of GOURMET magazine and bought it initially for an article on Maine Lobster and saw a recipe for sour cherry pie. Then by chance saw fresh sour cherries at the Farmer’s market so I thought I would try the recipe. Bought 3 big baskets because the recipe said 6 cups of cherries ( which ended up making enough filling for 2- 9 inch pies. It took me 5 & 1/2 hours from start to finish to make the pie but it came out perfectly the crust and the filling. I served it with real Vanilla Ice Cream- the pie was tart and mixed perfectly with the creaminess of the ice cream. Now that I have mastered my journey with pie I will be taking this off my 43 list of goals as I am eager to add a new goal.

sounds delicious
... especially with a cup of dark coffee. I absolutely hate eating a pie with a doughy crust. UGGGHHHHH and YUCK!!! Now, that being said, I could not make a pie crust that I would eat but I am so glad there are people like you out there who can make a good crust (like so many things in life, you must start with a good foundation).
Yup a Cup of Joe so satisfying
Hi Epp Dog,
Yes I too hate doughy crust- yuck but my pie was very good – not doughy at all. I ate my first piece with french vanilla ice cream – a tiny portion of both and the creaminess of the ice cream with the tartness of the sour cherries was blissful. The next morning had another small piece with coffee ( I highly recommend PLEASANT MORNING BUZZ by Whole Foods- I grind my beans). It was wonderful too.
