Buster Benson I need more goals.
What are your goals? How will you know whether or not this was worth it?
I’ve got my first training session in an hour and figure I should set some goals too.
Well, I enjoy working out and find that having a set time and trainer is helpful. I used to work out with friends but I don’t have many people around me that like working out together any longer. So, that’s part of my goal. To find a way to keep motivated.
On the weight front, I want to gain some muscle mass and strength which slow weights has definitely delivered. I did have a goal of shedding a few pounds but that hasn’t panned out. There are all sorts of factors involved so I’ve kind of dropped that goal for now.
It’s mostly muscle tone and strength at the moment. Plus, working out in any form always does good things for me mentally—or so I tell myself.
Do you have any more specific goals than me?
Buster Benson I need more goals.
Not sure yet. I’ve tried the ActiveTrac computerized workout creation program and thought that was fun for a while, but eventually got bored of it because I didn’t feel like I was making much progress. And the computer wasn’t doing anything to let me know that I was… I just got a different workout every day and it was tough to tell if it was easier or more difficult than the last one.
I think I’m mostly just interested in mixing it up. I’d actually like to gain 10-15 pounds, and see what that’s like. And also test this new workout idea.
I’ve got questions for them today, and want to stress that my goals are mostly in gaining weight, feeling stronger, and keeping track of progress. We’ll see!
I think the gaining weight by gaining muscle mass is probably a great goal for slow weights.
Oh – the other thing I dig about slow weights (and all great physical activity) is the focus. It really forces you to focus your mind and body for those few short minutes. It’s exhausting and if you commit to it (mostly mentally) you always leave feeling like you got something great out of the workout. It’s really great for that.
