Hi Aroura,
(My theory) Base your story closely on real world events, particularily things and people in your own life. The more intimate the story is to you, the more real and interesting people will find it. Interwine your own personal philosophy and ideas and then read lots of biography and read the newspaper for plot ideas—real life is stranger than fiction!
Also, I don’t think it matters if it’s fantasy or another ‘non’ real genre, the best fantasy and science fiction is rooted in the ‘real’.
Hi Aroura,
That’s tough. In my opinion it’s all a matter of taste. Knowing one’s market, knowing one’s product, and most importantly, knowing one’s self can be instrumental in shaping your writing career.
The best way to start is to be well read. Know what’s out there, know your competition, and know what eccentricities YOU possess that will enable you to leave a mark with your readers.
What separates each of us as writers (or artists if you will) is not the brush choice, but the application of it’s strokes.
Hope this helps.

The key is: the passion when you writing it. Well, in my case, i always get into the character and the story of the novel i write, as if I experienced the situation. If you write about egoist character, just do it. Put yourself into his/her and be the most egoist person you can. When i wrote Boylicious, i had to say i really got into Becky, my leading character who loved cursing and possesive. Many people tried to kick my ass because i’ve became such a jerk… but hey, look at the brightside. Boylicious readers love Becky, even she is not an ideal person.
